Indications for Phonophoresis
General indications
Phonophoresis is prescribed for various neurological, dermatological and other diseases, since the range of uses of this physiotherapy procedure is quite wide.
A course of phonophoresis is recommended for those who have:
- spinal diseases: osteochondrosis, radiculitis, intervertebral hernias, etc.;
- pathologies or injuries of the musculoskeletal system;
- vascular pathologies;
- pathologies of the skin.
Experienced neurologists and rehabilitation specialists at CSM prescribe courses of phonophoresis as part of comprehensive treatment, which helps achieve a good result. If necessary, the course can be supplemented with other methods and procedures that improve the result of drug, postoperative, preventive and rehabilitation treatment.
Age-related features
The age range of patients for whom phonophoresis may be indicated runs from infants to the elderly. Many of our patients are men and women who do fitness, active tourism and sports, drive, and do work that involves prolonged loads on the spine.
Musculoskeletal pathologies most often first appear after age 45-50. At this age, hormonal changes and the onset of aging processes place significant strain on the musculoskeletal system. In addition, with age the joint tissues wear out and the likelihood of developing pathologies rises substantially.
Among women, the need for courses of phonophoresis rises in the 30-50 age range. During this period, women often gain excess weight and develop an imbalance in mineral salt absorption, which leads to osteoporosis.
