Barotherapy at CSM Clinic

Barotherapy is a type of physiotherapy that exposes the body to increased or decreased atmospheric pressure. During a session, the patient is placed in a special chamber (hyperbaric chamber), where hyperbaric (increased-pressure) oxygenation, that is, saturation of the body with oxygen, takes place.

Functions of barotherapy

What equipment is used for barotherapy

At CSM Clinic, barotherapy is performed in hyperbaric chambers. This is a large oxygen capsule that makes the procedures comfortable for the patient (it can accommodate large athletes, people with excess weight, or a mother with a child) and may have a positive effect not only when lung recovery is needed, but also on other organs and body systems.

Barotherapy is used within the unified MAXIMUM lung recovery program "Breathe Freely!"

Barotherapy is prescribed not only for recovery after pneumonia. It may also be used in diabetes mellitus and in people with low coagulation (blood clotting) to help heal wounds and trophic ulcers, as well as in stomach ulcers, atherosclerosis and many other conditions accompanied by poor blood circulation and low blood oxygen saturation. Barotherapy may also be beneficial for a healthy person: it may help improve sleep and general well-being. Still, it is best to use this type of therapy only as prescribed by a doctor.

As with any procedure, barotherapy has contraindications, such as claustrophobia or high blood pressure. So take care of your body, and it will serve you for many years!
