Neuropsychological correction (neurocorrection) is a methodic set of exercise applied to prevent abnormal development of mental function in children of 3-12 years old. Neurocorrection at the CBS promotes improvement of perception, understanding, memory and many other functions of the brain, disorders in the work of which were identified during the examination.

Nowadays, the effectiveness of neuropsychological support for children with these pathologies has already been proven, so parents want to empower their child by providing him or her with more harmonious personal development through neurocorrection.

Indications for Neurocorrection

It is recommended that all preschool and junior school children get an opinion of a Neuropsychologist. After the diagnostic procedure, the neuropsychological correction specialist will provide information on the child's characters, the degree of development of his/her higher mental functions, and indicate what to pay closer attention to and how to eliminate these problems.


Neuropsychological correction is the most effective at an early age especially if the child has the following symptoms:

  • general motor awkwardness;
  • hyper- or hypotonia;
  • difficulties with writing and reading;
  • impulsiveness, irritability, conflictedness;
  • rapid fatigability;
  • inability to describe a picture;
  • split attention, poor memory;
  • motor retardation;
  • difficulties in the emotional-volitional sphere;
  • difficulties in the formation of language processes;
  • head injuries (birth or postpartum);
  • inability to copy a drawing or depict a figure;
  • minimal cerebral dysfunction (MCD), Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), developmental delay, psychoverbal development.


Neuropsychologic correction is effective in the treatment of the following diseases:

  • Dyspraxia
  • Dyslexia
  • Psychoverbal development
  • Developmental delay
  • Minimal cerebral dysfunction
  • ADHD
  • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders)
  • Tic disorder.

What age is the best for neurocorrection?

 As we have already mentioned, neuropsychological correction is the best for children 3-12 years old. An earlier start of the therapy guarantees faster results. Most often, they are seen already after 2-3 months of sessions, and the maximum is after 7-9 months. However, it should be noted that in the case of more serious disorders, in which the child's development is much slower than usual, the results after neurocorrection can be seen in some months or years.


Neuropsychological correction for children with episyndromes and hemiplegia should be done with caution. Also, neurocorrection is not prescribed if there is a profound degree of mental retardation and if the child's lower and upper extremities do not work. In this case, neurocorrection exercises make no sense.

An Essence of Neurocorrection

Neurocorrection sessions usually take place in the form of a game. The specialist offers the child individually selected motor exercises for sensorimotor correction, breathing exercises, exercises for the development of speech, articulation and others necessary to eliminate psychological pathologies and corrections.

Thanks to this complex, the brain zones are activated in a certain sequence, making up for developmental "errors" in a natural way. Correction begins in infancy: the neuropsychologist encourages the child to repeat the natural movements of a normally developing infant: moving the arms, legs, holding a toy, cuddling, squeezing objects, etc. After mastering them, the functionality of the brain structures should be restored and work in the correct sequence.

Coping with movement control skills the child has an opportunity to overcome pathological features of his or her development: it may be an adaptation to other children in a group of kindergarten or class, difficulties encountered in school, the inability to control and cope with his or her emotions, etc.

Neurocorrection Stages

  • Diagnostic. At this stage, using neuropsychological diagnostics, the Specialist determines the actual volume of skills and abilities and the presence of various pathological factors which can or have already led to certain "failures.
  • Setting stage. The goal of the orientation stage is to create positive motivation for neurocorrectional work. As a result, anxiety is reduced and understanding of one's place in society, fear of being among people is eliminated, and confidence in oneself and an exceptionally positive result is increased. At this stage, the neuropsychologist also conducts explanatory conversations with parents and children to explain why certain neurocorrection exercises are necessary.
  • Correction. This stage consists of three stages:
    • Phase 1 - the beginning of corrective work aimed at increasing cerebral blood circulation, increasing working capacity and normalizing all psychophysiological processes;
    • Phase 2 - development of motor reflexes and fine motor skills, improvement of work and interaction of brain hemispheres;
    • Phase 3 - increase in the level of self-control: neurocorrection is carried out alternately in lying, sitting, on all fours, and finally standing.
  • Assessment of effectiveness. The elimination of symptoms is not the reason for stopping the neurocorrection sessions. As experience and practice shows, the positive result is not manifested in a single moment, but over time. And the removal of symptoms without elimination of the cause of their occurrence can entail the return of symptoms in full or in part. That is why Neurocorrection sessions should be continued until a permanent long-term effect is achieved, and also to prevent new disorders.

It should be considered that kicking back the achieved results can occur due to illness, trauma suffered by the child, changes in social behaviour, and other reasons. In such cases, a repeated course of neurocorrective exercises is provided.

Neurocorrection Results at the Center for Brain Stimulation

Based on knowledge of the specifics of a particular sensory system, the neuropsychologist constantly changes the intensity and complexity of exercises and helps the child form adaptive responses of more advanced levels.

The neuropsychological correction program is constructed strictly based on each child's features and is prescribed by a specialist also individually based on neuropsychological diagnostics.

  • an individualized neurocorrection program considering age, needs, and level of brain development. The program includes mandatory homework and works with parents;
  • conducting a detailed neuropsychological diagnosis to determine the specifics of the development of higher mental functions (non-hardware method);

Ми прийшли в ЦСМ з дитиною з діагнозом аутизм. Син дуже примхливий, важко йде на контакт. Халевіч Юлія Олександрівна з перших хвилин змогла зацікавити його, знайшла якусь приховану кнопочку до нього. Тимур спокійно йде на заняття, слухає, грає. І після занять набагато спокійніше, а вчора попросив пластилін, наліпив багато різних фігурок. Спасибі вам величезне.

По рекомендации подруги обратились в клинику ЦСМ, с дислексией у ребенка 7 лет. До школы и не подозревали, что есть какие-то проблемы. Так как мы не знали к какому именно врачу нам нужно, я объяснила девочкам на ресепшене свою проблему, нас сразу записали к нужному доктору. В целом сразу понравилась и обстановка. и сервис. Наш лечащий врач Халевич Ю.А - очень хороший специалист, сразу расположила к себе, занимаемся только неделю, но я уже вижу небольшие результаты. Дякую величезне доктору Халевіч Ю. О. за професіоналізм, увагу, і небайдужість. У доньки у 8 років виявили діслексію, наче була така розумниця, але ж тут проблеми з письмом у школі. Вже після першого курсу лікування в ЦСМ у дитини з'явилися, перші успіхи в школі, і вдома уроки вчимо набагато мирніше. А то я вже пігулки заспокійливі почала приймати. Єдине, щоб хотілося покращити, це паркування. Щоб стати поближче до корпусу, треба або приїжджати раніше, або далеченько йти пішки.

Хочу висловити свою безмежну подяку Халевіч Ю.О. - дуже хорошому психологу і чудовій людині. До Центру стимуляції мозку в Києві порекомендували звернутись на мамского форумі. У сина затримка була розвитку мови, у 5 років майже нічого не говорив. Записалися на прийом до Холевич Ю.О., від першого заняття просто в захваті, і я, і Костя.
