Hyperactivity in Children

Hyperactivity syndrome in children is a developmental disorder expressed primarily as attention deficit. It shows up as restless behavior, emotional difficulties and impaired fine motor skills. It occurs in infants, preschoolers, schoolchildren and adults. Our CSM has neurologists and psychologists who help hyperactive boys, girls and adults become more attentive, focused and emotionally balanced. Attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome in children is identified during consultations, with the help of EEG and MOXO computer-based diagnostics.

An active child is a healthy child. It is a simple truth of family life that brings parents joy and gives the child the right to be playful. But if childish pranks regularly come with inattention, restlessness and even rudeness toward close ones, it is worth wondering whether the little fidget is developing normally.

Only parents fully realize what hyperactivity in children is and how serious this disorder can be. Such children tend to act impulsively: without thinking, on the first impulse. For example, they may run out onto the road without paying attention to moving traffic. Unjustified risk can lead to serious consequences and harm to health. That is why correcting hyperactivity in children also brings parents peace of mind.

A Troublemaker or a Hostage to a Brain Disorder?

At first glance, hyperactive children in kindergarten or school seem stubborn and defiant pranksters who are careless about studying and their duties. But do not try to lecture or punish your son or daughter. It will not help, and it will only spoil the relationship between parents and children. A hyperactive child does not "refuse" - they are simply unable to be calm and focused. The cause of this behavior is not a stubborn character or a lack of upbringing; it lies much deeper, inside the skull.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children (ADHD) is associated with minor organic brain damage resulting from the following conditions:

At What Age Does a Child Become Hyperactive?

Hyperactivity in a child arises during development, most often at an early age. Boys have attention deficit and hyperactivity 4-5 times more often than girls. City children are more prone to developing ADHD than those who live in a private house or in the countryside.

Signs of hyperactivity in an infant are noticeable: increased muscle tone and sensitivity to external stimuli, poor appetite and restless sleep. By the age of 3-4, the child is unable to organize actions and concentrate. At 6-7 years, the manifestations of the syndrome peak.

An ADHD diagnosis is also found in adults. It shows up as impulsive behavior, difficulty perceiving information and reduced intellectual abilities.

How to Recognize a Hyperactive Child

In the behavior of every child, even a calm and shy one, there are moments of stubbornness and disobedience, outbursts of anger and aggression. However, not every fidget is hyperactive. The following symptoms of hyperactivity in children are characteristic of this disorder:

If your little fidget has even one symptom, that is already a good reason to suspect hyperactivity syndrome. But for an accurate diagnosis it is better to see our pediatric doctors.

Quick ADHD Diagnosis with the MOXO Computer Test

Computer-based MOXO diagnostics helps identify hyperactivity in children and adults; the name means "a moment of calm" in Japanese. The test comes in two versions: for children (6-12 years) and for teenagers and adults (13-70 years). The patient completes 8 levels of test tasks. The testing is deliberately made harder by visual and auditory distractions in order to simulate situations that may occur in real life. The results are calculated based on an assessment of the following cognitive and behavioral qualities:

The MOXO psychological test provides a quick ADHD assessment. Testing takes up to 15 minutes for children and up to 20 minutes for teenagers and adults.

TCMP and BAC Methods for Brain Health

We offer treatment of hyperactivity in children in Kyiv using transcranial micropolarization and bioacoustic correction. TCMP aims to support new connections between neurons and the development of brain structures by applying a weak direct current. BAC affects the brain with sounds of the patient's own electroencephalogram.

Both methods may help the child calm down and look at the world differently. After a course of therapy, a restless child may show less anxiety and aggression, fears may subside and mood may improve. Instead of restless and clumsy hand movements, clearer, coordinated and more confident finger motor skills may appear. The child is calmer, interested in communicating with others and able to learn alongside other children.

TCMP and BAC methods are often used together, reinforcing each other's effect. A course of treatment consists of 10-15 sessions. Treating hyperactivity in young children may produce noticeable results, since the preschool brain is developing rapidly, has great potential and tends to respond to therapy faster.

Psychological and parental support is important in the treatment of ADHD. The main task of the psychologist and parents is to teach the child to build a daily routine. Such a routine teaches proper behavior in various situations: doing duties without unnecessary effort and stress, finding time for homework and rest. It is also important to create additional motivation that helps the child achieve their goals with confidence.
